Holiday Party at Local Group

While Shifting Gears’ primary focus is supporting young adults as they age out of care without permanency, we also understand the importance of building relationships with teenagers who are currently in care. Trust is difficult to earn, especially for youth who have been let down time and time again.

At Shifting Gears, Ms. Diana and her team make a consistent effort—at a minimum, monthly—to build genuine connections and consistently show up for these young people.

One of our favorite ways to do this is through our annual holiday party. This year, youth were given embroidered stocking made by SMA student, Adelynn Young, enjoyed a catered dinner by Maison Intimate Catering, participated in a holiday trivia game created by Lilah Gardner, won prizes during our annual saran wrap ball, and had the opportunity to “shop” our store for gifts for their families. Many also learned how to wrap gifts, and we ended the evening with a sweet tradition: our cookie walk.

Thank you to our volunteers and donors. A very special thank you to Lilah and Adelynn for sharing their talents!
